Outline of the day’s events

10.30 am Offering of alms food to the Sangha
1.30 pm Gather in the Temple for the main ceremony
2.00 pm.

Taking Refuges and Precepts by the lay community
Paritta chanting by the Monastic Sangha
Offering of the Kathina cloth and requisites to the Monastic Sangha
Dhamma talk

This year the Royal Kathina Robe will be graciously offered by the King of Thailand through a representative.

The Kathina ceremony and Kathina cloth will be sponsored and offered by Mrs Kay Lai Goh and Mrs Kumari Wijeratne. Particularly this Kathina will be offered to mark the 80th birthday of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Gratitude to Parents Day

The annual Gratitude to Parents Day will take place on Sunday 12th October 2008, and will include a meal offering, Paritta chanting, and a Dhamma talk from Ajahn Sumedho.

11.00 am: Offering of alms and Paritta chanting.
12.00 noon: Lunch for visitors
2.00 pm: Dhamma Talk by Ajahn Sumedho in the Temple.

Summer Talks

Ajahn Sumedho and senior members of the monastic community will give Dhamma Talks each Sunday between 2.00pm and 4.00 pm during the Vassa period, starting on Sunday 20th July and ending with Gratitude to Parent Day on 12 October. Refreshments will be served after the talk and there will be an opportunity to ask questions about the talk and on Buddhism in general. Titles for the talks are listed on the Events Diary of the website.

Luang Por Sumedho's birthday

Luang Por Sumedho will celebrate his 74th birthday on Sunday 27th July. The day will start with a community breakfast at 7.15 am, and all are welcome to mark the event by joining in the meal at 11.30 am.
