Kathina - Sunday 2nd November 2008

26 Sep 2008

Calling all lay supporters of Amaravati

Come and help us make this a special day

The annual Kathina ceremony is an opportunity for lay people to show their support for the monastery by offering dana. On the day, we can expect to have up to 1000 visitors to the monastery, and to accommodate this and make the day run smoothly we need volunteers to provide a range of services, from helping with car parking to stewarding to clearing and washing up after the meal. All teams of volunteers will be led by a co-ordinator who will fully brief their team beforehand.

Mayday, Mayday!

With so much preparation to do on the Saturday, and many people expected on the Sunday, it’s vital that we have first aid cover to complement the St John’s Ambulance unit who will be in attendance on the Kathina day itself, so we’re particularly keen to hear from anyone who has a current First Aid certificate and who would like to provide cover for all or part of the weekend.

If you think you could help out with any of these tasks, even for part of the day, do please consider volunteering.

If you’d like more information, do contact me on 01442 865519 or email me at amala@petalmoore.net

Amaravati Library

20 Apr 2007

The library’s collection of 10,000 books is available at Amaravati as a resource both for the Sangha and for lay visitors. We have now started creating an electronic catalogue to improve access to the collection. Details of each book have to be entered individually on a database, and the project will take some time. If you would like to come to the library and contribute by entering details of a few books on a regular basis please email

We welcome help from computing adepts and beginners alike.

Mutlimedia help required for producing Family events CD_ROM magazine

25 Jan 2007

Hi,

Each year the Buddhist families come to Amaravati and we produce a Magazine called rainbows (more details here).

Last year we produced a CD with all the old Magazines Scanned in.

I am thinking about this year producing it as mutli-media CD.
This would be designed, thought by the children, young people and parents over the Bank Holiday Weekend in May.
If you have any skills and more importantly the software to do such a think… please

Thanks
Samanera Amaranatho
