The monastery invites you to our Visākha (Wesak) celebrations, also known as ‘Buddha Day’, on Sunday May 7.

This is the public celebration of the three key events in the Buddha’s life that are traditionally considered to have taken place on the full moon of May: his birth, awakening to full enlightenment under the bodhi tree at the age of thirty five, and his final passing away, parinibbāna, aged eighty.

The day will start in the Temple at 10.00 am with taking precepts and Paritta chanting.  This is followed by a rice Pindapata at approx. 10.45 am and the meal offering.

Starting at 1.30 pm, there will be two Dhamma Talks to be given by our visiting Elders, Luang Por Liem, the Abbot of Wat Pah Pong in Thailand and by the founder of Amaravati monastery, Luang Por Sumedho.

The day will close around 3.30 – 4.00 pm with tea in the sālā.
