ALBA Winter Day of Practice

Honesty
Led by Martin Evans

Special Notice

During this period the monastery kitchen is being refurbished and the community will be using the Retreat Centre Kitchen instead, which means that we are not able to use it for our Days of Practice.

Registraton and lunch will be in the Ubon Room (which is on the left opposite the women’s toilets before you reach the cloisters) and we will be using the Bodhinyana Hall for meditation and discussion. Please look out for signs which will direct you to where you should go - and please bring only food which needs no preparation.

We have to be absolutely honest with ourselves to see through our delusion; nothing can be left hidden.  And honesty also protects us from wrong-doing; how can we do wrong if we have resolved to keep no secrets?  But it can be dangerous - is honesty always the best policy?

The day will be suitable for both newcomers to meditation or Amaravati and more experienced practitioners.

Our teachings are based upon early Buddhism - that described in the Pali Nikayas - and forming the basis of Theravadan Buddhism as well as most forms of mainstream Buddhism.

NB Please bring a simple packed ‘picnic’ lunch for yourself as no cooking or food preparation facilities will available for this event.

Registration in the Ubon Room from 9.30 am for 10 AM start in the Bodhinyana Hall.

The morning will be devoted to silent meditation practice. After lunch there will be an opportunity for discussion, questions and interaction.

All are welcome. No booking required. No charge, although there will be an opportunity to donate towards Retreat Centre costs.
