Amaravati kitchen has re-opened

The recent refurbishment work to the kitchen at Amaravati has been completed to schedule and all meals and meal preparation are once again taking place in the main monastery kitchen and Sala. Please note that in order to reduce congestion we would ask that anyone bringing food offerings come in through the Sala and not use the back entrances to the kitchen. Visitor entrances will be clearly signposted. Thank you for your cooperation.

Announcing the launch of Lotus Volunteer Group

This month sees the launch of the Lotus Volunteer Group (LVG). Founded and managed by a group of lay supporters, the LVG aims to facilitate volunteer support to the community of monks and nuns living at Amaravati Buddhist Monastery. Willing lay friends are invited to visit the LVG website - at www.lotusvolunteergroup.org - where you will find information about opportunities to volunteer your time, energy and skills in support of the monastery.

Winter Retreat

From the evening of 3 January the resident community at Amaravati Buddhist Monastery will be in retreat until 1 April. During this time overnight accommodation will not be available for guests. Visitors can still come during the day to meditate or to help with mealtime offerings. If you would like to offer dana, it is helpful to let the kitchen manager know beforehand by phoning the monastery office on 01442 842 455.
