Some Practical Information

During the Open Retreat the monastery gates will be opened at 4.30 am and close in the evening after pūjā around 10.30 pm. The back gate will close early at 4 pm so please do not leave your car in the back car park (behind the sālā) in the afternoon.

Day visitors can take part in the programme for a whole day or only part of a day. Ajahn Sumedho is scheduled to give a Dhamma Talk as part of the evening pūjā starting at 19.30. Other senior Ajahns will offer meditation instructions and a Q&A session at other times of the day. You do not need to register if you are coming for one day only, or only some sessions.

Everyone is welcome to join the community for the meal. If you are there just for part of the day, kindly let the residents get their food first as there is no evening meal at the monastery.

During the retreat time, the anumodanā (blessing chanting) will be held in the Temple at 11.30.

We ask everyone to respect the quietude of the monastery and come and go as quietly as possible from the Temple.

Do not take photographs in the Temple and remember to switch off mobile phones!

Disabled car parking spaces will be available at the front of the monastery.

Finally, depending on numbers, we may not be able to admit all visitors into the Temple at very busy times. The sālā will be set up with a live video link and seating if the numbers require it.
