Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update, March 17

Amaravati WebmasterNews

 Amaravati is open, but …..

The UK government is encouraging ‘Social Distancing ’ and ‘Self-Isolation’, as well as improved hygiene, as the best ways to delay or reduce the spread of coronavirus. The Sangha’s guidance and strategy therefore are that:

The Amaravati Retreat Centre Retreats, Saturday workshops, ALBA Retreat, and the Bodhinyana (Wednesday) Group are all cancelled until the end of April. Announcements will be made later about live streaming so you can participate in e.g. pujas, from home.

 The Kitchen and Food

The kitchen and Sala are particular areas of risk of spreading germs.

  • The Temple will be the gathering space before the meal. The dedications and anumodana will be given each day from the temple, not the sala.
  • It’s useful to put 1m space between each other and asking you to do the same
  • Only residents can enter the kitchen
  • No-one, other than residents, will be able to cook in the kitchen, until further notice.
  • Only residents will be offering the food to the sangha
  • If you have brought a donation of cooked food please leave it in the Sala Entrance, on the table marked ‘Food Donations’.
  • To keep the whole Sala closed to visitors until it is time for visitors to take their meal.

 The Temple

Please keep a distance of 1m from other people. We have separated the floor mats to allow this.

All illnesses bring uncertainty and are an opportunity for mindfulness, wisdom and simple kindness. May all beings be well in mind and body.

With gratitude for your care and observance.
